IMPORTANT! THIS APPLICATION IS NOT A RADIO TUNER. YOU CANNOT LISTEN TO THE STATIONS THROUGH THIS APP. It just helps you find the local station frequencies so that you can quickly tune your radio to the kind of station you want.

[Your reviews and ratings are very important to me and I am concerned that someone did not read my statement below (that has always been in this description), so I have repeated the information here at the top of the description.]

I travel all over the United States for my job, and I wanted an application that would tell me the local radio stations based on my location. Then, I would not have to waste time searching for stations in my rental car, and waiting through commercials to see what kind of station it is.

I did not find any other application that worked like I wanted, so I decided to build one myself.

Radio Radar will use your current location, and it will display all the stations whose towers are nearby (within the range you specify).

You can filter the results by station format so, for example, you can easily find all the sports stations, or the Christian stations, or the jazz stations.

All the radio tower information comes from a local database, so you dont have to wait for an online search. As a bonus, you can get a tower map showing you where the towers are, and you can select a tower and go straight to the FCC information webpage for that station.

FEATURES:
* Offline database for fast and reliable searches
* Choose a city or automatically use your location
* Identifies national networks: NPR, KLOVE, Air1 and Fox Sports
* Choose to filter results from several station formats
* Choose maximum distance to search for radio towers
* See relative signal strengths to easily choose the best stations
* Get a map view with tower locations annotated
* Get detailed station and tower information with a focused map view
* Tap on a tower annotation and you can choose to be taken directly to the FCC detailed information page for the selected station

IMPORTANT! THIS APPLICATION IS NOT A RADIO TUNER. YOU CANNOT LISTEN TO THE STATIONS THROUGH THIS APP. It just helps you find the local station frequencies so that you can quickly tune your radio to the kind of station you want.

The station signal strength bars are only an approximation, based on the stations broadcast power and your distance to the tower. Terrain elements such as mountains will affect your actual signal strength.

This version only contains radio station information for stations in the United States.

Pros and cons of Radio Radar app for iPhone and iPad

Radio Radar app good for

YES, I read the description and Im not interested in a radio streamer. When I travel I hate having to scan through every station on my car radio to find something I like (especially in large metropolitan areas). This app is exactly what Im looking for. All the poor reviews I read are due to user confusion about the function of the app. This app finds radio stations based on your location. You cannot stream them to your iPhone. That being said, I have a couple of issues that prevent this from a 5 star rating. 1) A local college station is not listed at all (KFSR) even with a 100 mile range enabled. Im sure this is an issue with the database that the info is pulled from. 2) The local brand name is not listed, e.g. The Fox, The Blade, etc ... 3) It would be really nice if stations could be annotated with user info, such as a Favorite rating, and the aforementioned local brand names. I have yet to use it in the wild (outside my hometown), but so far it seems well designed and pretty accurate. Well done and priced nicely!
Great applicaton!!! In future versions, it would be useful to see the ability to select map position other than the current location, i.e., nationwide searching of the database. It would also be nice if the features worked in airplane mode. Thankyou!!!
This app is so amazing that Im writing my first review out of 100+ apps I have! If your a radio geek and visit web sites for looking up or finding radio station info, this is a must have. You will not be dissatisfied! One of the best 99 cent apps I have bought. The interface looks awesome and works just as great too. Thank you!
App is useful. Three requests: (1) Abililty to filter/select more than one format (example-rock&alternative). (2) Add "college" as a format (3) Information about, or link to what song is currently playing.
Traveling somewhere and want to find NPR, a new rock station, or your favorite talk radio? This is the app you need. As the author warned -- THIS DOES NOT STREAM RADIO STATIONS. It is simply a directory of the radio stations you can receive at any particular location. As a side note, if youre curious to figure out what unfamiliar and distant AM or FM station you are picking up on your radio, this is a helpful app. Transmitters up to 200 miles away from the user-selected location can be found. If youre testing out your hi-fi FM or AM radio to pull in distant stations (DXing), this feature is helpful to see if youre on the right track.
Fantastic app! I dont like scanning the radio looking for a classic rock station while traveling and this app finds the stations for me. All I do is tune my car stereo to it now!! Thanks for a great app.

Some bad moments

Hasnt been updated since 2011. No longer useful. Should be removed from the App Store.
Cannot listen to stations. Youll be paying for just seeing a map full of stations!! Title is misleading
Doesnt work as advertised. Waste of money. I was receiving several stations that didnt even register on the app and some of the stations they showed with strong signals were all static.

Usually Radio Radar iOS app used & searched for

radio locator, radio station finder, and other. So, download free Radio Radar .ipa to run this nice iOS application on iPhone and iPad.
